Begin Your Therapeutic Journey

EMDR Intensives

  • An EMDR Intensive is a therapeutic format where EMDR sessions are delivered over a condensed period, rather than weekly appointments over months or years. Intensives can be:

    • Individual — one-on-one, private sessions

    • Retreat-style — immersive, supportive environments

    • Outpatient — multiple sessions across several consecutive days

I offer EMDR Intensives on Waiheke Island, in Bali, and soon in Portugal, Mexico, and other destinations.

  • During an intensive, we focus on trauma memories, unhelpful patterns, and distressing life experiences in a safe and structured way. This format allows for:

    • Deep immersion — work through trauma more quickly than weekly sessions

    • Rapid symptom relief — reduce anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and negative beliefs efficiently

    • Consolidated learning — process emotions and integrate coping strategies in real time

    • Holistic support — combining mind–body approaches, mindfulness, somatic techniques, and lifestyle guidance

  • Clinical experience and research show intensives can be highly effective because:

    • Frequency matters — repeated sessions in a short period accelerate processing

    • Immersion supports neuroplasticity — rapid changes in the brain’s trauma processing

    • High engagement — clients experience clarity, symptom relief, and a sense of momentum

Studies (e.g., Shapiro, 2018; Marcus et al., 2014) indicate that intensive EMDR is safe, effective, and sometimes more transformative than traditional weekly therapy, particularly for complex trauma.

  • EMDR Intensives are ideal for:

    • Complex trauma or PTSD

    • Childhood and attachment-related trauma

    • Individuals seeking focused, time-efficient therapy

    • Those wanting supportive, retreat-style or immersive therapy

Whether delivered privately, in a retreat, or internationally, EMDR Intensives provide a powerful, immersive, and efficient pathway to healing.

EMDR Intensive

After an EMDR Intensive, ongoing support is important to help you integrate the work and maintain progress. I offer online follow-up sessions to provide guidance, check-ins, and continued therapeutic support, no matter where you are in the world.

I also collaborate with your existing therapist or other healthcare providers—both before and after the intensive—to ensure continuity of care and a coordinated approach to your healing journey. This way, you can feel fully supported, both during the intensive and in the weeks and months that follow, as you consolidate insights and build lasting change.

If you’re interested in an EMDR Intensive, we can arrange a Zoom consultation to discuss your goals, determine if an intensive is a good fit, and plan the best format for your needs — whether individual, retreat-style, or outpatient.
